Goodbye SFUAD :’)

I have officially completed my undergraduate degree at Santa Fe University of Art & Design!

There are no words to express the magnitude of my gratitude for this school and the amazing people in it. I’ve learnt so much not only academically, but about the world and myself here. Between the dedicated staff (especially Malcom Morgan, Brad Bergsbaken, Mary Beth Lindsey, Dee Brown, Susanne Miller, and Fogelson librarian Margaret Van Dyk), the extraordinary faculty of our Creative Writing & Literature department (Dana Levin, Julia Goldberg, Anne Valente, Matt Donovan, Michael Wilson, James Reich), incredible professors in all disciplines (Nora Hickey, Horace Alexander Young, Kate Reid - to name only a few), and my exceptional peers (finally a list too numerous to name - you know who you are), there truly couldn’t have been a better support system to send off our university and last student body into the eternal beyond.

Because yes, if you haven’t seen the news, I am part of the final graduating class of Santa Fe University. Through several unfortunate mismanagements from our school’s parent company (cue eyeroll about for-profit schools, amiright?) and a few bad seeds on campus that have since been purged, our college is shutting down after the graduation ceremony in May. It absolutely breaks my heart to see the place my soul lives laid to rest, but I’m thankful for the time I got to spend here and all the talented, lovely people I got to know and grow with. Everyone is going to go off to do great things and inform the momentum of so many others. I hope I do the same, and feel prepared and assured to do so because of the strong foundation SFUAD set me up with.

Bye, Jackalopes! Love you!

xoxo,

Kylie
